Trying to conceive
Trying for a baby is exciting, however, if it is taking you longer to fall pregnant than you thought, it can be frustrating. You are not alone, 1 in 6 Australian couples have trouble falling pregnant.
Understanding infertility
A couple is traditionally diagnosed with infertility when they have been unable to conceive a pregnancy after 12 months of unprotected intercourse. This definition may however change if a woman is aged over 35 or if a male is more than five years older than his partner of 35 years or knows that he has a low or absent sperm count.
Getting help to fall pregnant
If you are having difficultly falling pregnant, you are not alone. 1 out of 6 couples experience infertility (difficulty conceiving after 12 months of trying). It is important to understand when you should see a fertility specialist.
