Before starting IVF treatments, investigations or tests may be required.

Sometimes if fertility issues aren’t severe, early treatments can be performed. Below are some the tests and early treatments we perform at Care Fertility.

Tests available at Care Fertility

To be able to understand the reason why you’re having difficultly in conceiving we perform tests.

This enables you to understand what might be causing you to not fall pregnant and helps us to establish what treatment is best for you.

Semen analysis and collection

Male factor infertility accounts for approximately 40% of those couples failing to conceive. Therefore, despite its well‐known limitations a detailed semen analysis is an essential step in diagnosing the cause of infertility as well as providing information on the most appropriate treatment options for a couple trying to achieve a pregnancy.

Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH)

Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) is a hormone measured in the blood which indicates the number of immature eggs a woman has left in her body. It is not an exact test but is a good indicator of the number of eggs a woman will have collected during an IVF cycle. As the number of eggs in a woman’s ovary reduces the AMH reduces as well.

Evaluation of the fallopian tubes

The function of the fallopian tubes is to transfer the egg from the ovary to the uterus, where fertilisation of the egg by the sperm generally occurs. Tests can be performed to ensure the fallopian tubes are functioning correctly.

Intrauterine insemination (IUI)

Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is a procedure of placing washed sperm directly into the cavity of the uterus of the woman. The sperm preparation (washing) is performed by Care Fertility scientists.

Ovulation induction

Ovulation induction is a treatment for infrequent, poor quality or absent ovulation. Having a defect of ovulation is the most treatable form of infertility and use of assisted reproductive technology such as IVF is often not required. There are many options for inducing ovulation in women with ovulatory disturbances.

Cycle monitor

A cycle monitor is a way to confirm exactly when you ovulate and gives some information about the quality of ovulation. A cycle monitor helps you understand when is the best time to have intercourse to increase your chances of pregnancy.

Oil based contrast

Oil based contrast (Lipiodol™) can be used in hysterosalpingography (HSG) which is an x-ray to confirm that the Fallopian tubes are open and the uterus shape is normal. Lipiodol™ is an iodine contrast agent that contains iodine and poppy seed oil which helps improve the clarity of the images obtained during x-ray examinations.
