Do fertility and ovulation apps work?

When trying to conceive it’s important to understand when you’re ovulating. This can help learn when is the best time to have sexual intercourse to increase your chances of conceiving.

If you’re trying to conceive, you’ve most likely heard of fertility or ovulation tracking apps. But do they work and how accurate are they?

How fertility and ovulation apps work?

Fertility and ovulation apps will ask you to log the start of your menstrual cycle. The app will then predict when your ovulation might occur and suggest the timing for intercourse.

How does cycle monitor work?

Cycle monitor involves having an ultrasound scan and blood tests from roughly day 8-10 of your menstrual cycle (though the day varies according to your cycle length). As having a cycle monitor matches the blood sample with ultrasound, it is more accurate than a fertility and ovulation app.

What are fertility and ovulation apps good for?

Though ovulation apps aren’t as accurate, they are good at recording dates to share with your fertility doctor.
